Connie Perry – 2019 Morgan County Democrat of the Year
Connie Perry has been a driving force in local business and politics for decades.
She was appointed to the School Building Authority of West Virginia and served as a board member for twenty years. During those years she worked to ensure that school building projects were handled in the most proper and effective way. She has been instrumental in creating a better learning environment for tens of thousands of West Virginia children.
Connie was elected and served on the Electoral College Board. She has been active in Democratic women’s activities on a state and federal level. She volunteered to help at the Clinton White House, taking a bus load of others along to assist opening mail.
Locally she has served on the Tri-State Community Health Center board, the Economic Development Authority of Morgan County, the Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, and is secretary of the Morgan County Democratic Executive Committee.
Connie chaired the building committee to fund and build a new library in Berkeley Springs. The library was funded and built in two years, and paid for in ten years. She is the current president of the library board.
Other Morgan County projects she helped with funding for are the Morgan County Industrial Park, youth ball fields, a sewer system in Great Cacapon, and a bond program that returned one million dollars to the Morgan County Commission.
In sum, she has given much. And for this, and many other accomplishments, she is the 2019 Morgan County Democrat of the Year.
“Good, hardworking people can be destroyed by circumstances beyond their control. It is our job to not let that happen. It is our job to help. To give everyone a fair shot.” — Sen. John D. Rockefeller:
